Pages from your Librarian

Many of our regular patrons are surprised when they learn of the services provided to our local schools. Besides regular visits by the bookmobile and bookclubs, regular story times are provided to our local schools by the Elyria Public Library System. Most Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms in Elyria are visited at least once monthly by one of our librarians. A librarian also visits Keystone Elementary on a monthly basis. These half hour visits include interactive read-alouds, music, poetry, puppetry and other activities designed to boost early literacy skills.

For those families that wish to come to the library for story time, we have you covered! All of our locations offer story times. Our Spring Session starts on March 26th and runs through May 19th. Please check our Storytime Schedule for times and locations.

Tours, storytimes, and group visits may be scheduled for school classes, scout groups, day cares, and parent groups. To schedule a visit, please call EPLS staff at least three weeks in advance.

Early Literacy

Our children's rooms are full of wonderous adventures waiting to be explored by your little ones. We want to help build the skills your child needs to be ready for school by working with them to develop early literacy and learning skills, such as talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing.

Homework Help

Stop in for a quiet area and large tables to get your homework completed. Use our online research tools.

Cards & Computers

The children's Room computers are just for kids! You'll need a student ID or library card to sign on. Don't have a library card? We have a Children's 3 for ME card for kids under 12.
