I’m excited to share a vibrant newsletter filled with events and programs inspired by the theme Color our World, focusing on art, color, and the beauty of the natural world. Our popular Summer Reading Program kicks off on May 27th with a celebration at the Central Library. Enjoy a visit with adorable animals from the Barn Yard Petting Zoo and stop by to try out the FabCab - a mini makerspace provided by our friends at Lorain County Community College, and other games, activities, crafts and fun! I hope to see you there! I’m thrilled to share a new project we are working on to renovate our Story Time Room at the West River Library. This project was made possible with a gift from Ron and Rose Marie Capasso, to honor Ralph and Bernadine Capasso, who wanted to share their love of stories with future generations of children. It has been a joy to work on this project to transform the room into a wonderful backdrop for our talented librarians to create a magical story time experience for children and families. The public is invited to join us for a ribbon cutting on June 4th, followed by a special Royal story time to dedicate the space and honor the Capasso family’s gift to the community. On a bittersweet note, I am honored to acknowledge the service and leadership of outgoing EPL Board Trustee Rhonda Smith, who has served for 4 terms, a total of 16 years, as a Library Trustee. Rhonda has been a reliable and dedicated board member, lending her knowledge, voice and support to assure that the library is well run. Rhonda served as Board Vice President for 10 of her 16 years of trusteeship. We are grateful to Rhonda for her dedication in service of the people Elyria and LaGrange. Here's to a great summer ahead! Warmly, Jen Starkey CONNECT WITH US!
