Library/Ballot Issue Literature Policy

Prior to each election, informational campaign literature relating to ballot issues (both favoring and/or opposing ballot issues) and candidates may be placed in the Library for display for patrons to take. Campaigners for these issues and candidates may not campaign or hand out literature to patrons. Campaign literature will be cleared from all EPLS locations prior to opening the door on Election Day.

  • Yard signs and promotional giveaways will not be accepted. Only yard signs for Library issues will be displayed on Library grounds, except Election Day.
  • The Library staff assumes no responsibility for informing campaigning Committees that do not provide the appropriate campaign information to the Library OR maintaining supplies of literature.

Petitions may not be displayed, distributed, or circulated in Library buildings or on Library property. The only exception will be petitions related to and approved by the Library.

The Library does not endorse or advocate the viewpoints of any groups or individual and posting of a notice or use of our Library facilities does not imply such endorsement.

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the distribution of Library ballot issue literature within the Library.
