Library Cards

Outreach services include preschools and retirement homes

The Elyria Public Library System offers five types of library cards.
Find the right one for you.

You must be an Ohio resident to be eligible for an Elyria Public Library Card.

Library Card | A traditional library card gives you access to physical print materials, computers, and eMedia. You can have up to 75 items on your account.

To obtain a library card, you will need:

  • valid ID, driver's license, state ID, or passport with the correct name and current address
  • If identification does not show current address, bring a piece of mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service that shows new address

Note: Teenagers with no form of identification will need a parent/guardian to complete the application.

Juvenile Library Cards | A traditional library card for children in grades 7 and below provides access to physical print materials, computers, and eMedia. A parent or legal guardian is needed to apply for this type of library card. The parent/guardian on the application is then responsible for all items on the account. You can have up to 75 items on your account.

To obtain a juvenile library card, the parent/guardian will need:

  • valid ID, driver's license, state ID, or passport with the correct name and current address
  • If identification does not show current address, bring a piece of mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service that shows new address

Pick 6 Library Cards | This card is just for patrons aged 16 and under! This card allows your child to get an Elyria Public Library Card without a parent/guardian being present; however a parent/guardian signature is required. There is a 6-item limit for books and magazines of children's and teen materials along with AV materials from the Youth Services collection; this card also gives your child/teen access to the computers at any EPL location. This card cannot be used for holds at non-EPL libraries.

Institutional Cards | Request an institutional card for your school or organization, which would not leave teachers or employees personally responsible for lost materials. Contact the Outreach Department at 440-324-9831 for more information.

EPL e-Cards | Sign up for an e-Card here. You will instantly receive your e-Card number via email, giving you the benefits of eMedia, online databases, and computer access at any EPL location. This card does not allow for checkouts on physical print or AV materials.
